OpenDoors recognizes that finding affordable housing can be one of the biggest obstacles faced by formerly incarcerated individuals. OpenDoors offers over 300 beds of different types of housing opportunities depending on what people are ready for, including a group shelter, transitional recovery houses, and permanent supportive housing.

 Housing Services

  • OpenDoors operates three properties with a total of 135 beds specifically for people with criminal records and the chronically homeless.  This includes a men’s homeless shelter, a 24-hour homeless support station, two men’s transitional sober houses, a newly opened women’s transitional house, and 19 units of section 8 housing.

  • The group shelter beds are free and the most accessible. For some individuals, our transitional housing beds are also free or subsidized, or we offer self-pay beds as well for $400-$600 per month. For more details call 401-781-5808

  • The shelter bed waitlist is through the Coordinated Entry System—call 401-277-4316.

  • Grant-funded men and women’s recovery house beds are through the 942-STOP system and have a low availability due to demand. Our self-pay recovery housing beds are more likely to be available. State-wide recovery housing bed availability is posted on the BHDDH recovery housing waitlist registry at https://www.ribhopenbeds.org/. For all other details, call OpenDoors at 401-781-5808.

  • Our Resource Center staff can help you apply for permanent housing options across the state. OpenDoors permanent supportive housing can be applied for in person and has an approximately three year waitlist.
