Strengthening Your Business

The Federal and State Governments provide tax incentives for employers who hire individuals with criminal records.

OpenDoors will help you to identify and apply for financial incentives for which you may be eligible.

Work Opportunity Tax Credit

The Federal Government offers the WOTC to any employer that hires an individual within one year of their relase from prison. WOTC is a $2,400 tax break for each formerly incarcerated person you hire.

Federal Bonding

Rhode Island is purchasing a number of federal bonds that are available at no cost to you to insure for losses and can be effective the first day a new employee starts work.

Other Opportunities

OpenDoors is always looking for additional ways to make it easier for you to hire our clients. You may be eligible for a number of other tax credits or grants, and we will work with you through this process.

Preparing Clients for the Work Environment, Supporting Workers and Employers

Employment Seminar

OpenDoors offers a full four-day Employment Program specifically designed for formerly incarcerated individuals which prepares them for finding and keeping sustainable employment. Our unique model combines both seminars, designed to teach best practices and skills in a group setting, and workshops, where individuals actively complete tasks to better prepare them for employment. Upon completion, participants have a full job search plan, a certificate of completion, and are familiar with the NetworkRI system, and other resources and services available to them.

Ongoing Case Management

Employment Services Coordinator Jesse Capece works with clients who have completed the basic program to address individual barriers along the road to finding a job and continue ongoing assessments. This ongoing case management continues throughout the job search, placement, and retention process.

Specialized Orientation Sessions

We hold special orientation and training sessions for clients who have risen above the rest and have gained our personal trust and confidence. These sessions are designed as needed based on the parameters identified by our employer partners to prepare individuals for specific job placement opportunities. Jesse Capece will work closely with you to design these training sessions, identify candidates that meet your specific needs, and make individual recommendations based on what is important to you.
