Do You Believe in Second Chances? Become a Mentor!

Time Commitment
Mentors agree to a one-year commitment and agree to meet a minimum of four hours each month with their mentees, as well as attend a monthly mentor group.

Screening Process
All prospective mentors will attend an orientation session, complete an application, participate in a face-to-face interview with reference checks, and complete an initial training.

Orientation
Orientation includes a program overview, opportunity for questions, and submission of a volunteer application.

Matching
Once you are screened and trained, mentors will be matched with a mentee. Matches are based on interests, hobbies, life experience, location, and mentor's and mentee's reported preferences. Once matched, an introductory meeting will be scheduled.

Activities
OpenDoors will host optional monthly activities for mentors and mentees, as well as open hours for mentors and mentees to meet onsite at OpenDoors.

Training
Mentors will receive ongoing training and support by attending an initial training as well as monthly support and training sessions facilitated by the Mentoring Program Coordinator.

Support
The OpenDoors Mentoring Coordinator is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is available to work with you and your mentee.
